A customer contracted by the Highways Agency approached Offshore Stainless & Alloys with a need for stainless steel sheets for the production of steel cabinets to be installed along motorways. These cabinets would house essential electronic equipment and needed to withstand harsh outdoor environments. The manufacturer specified 1.4003 stainless steel for the cabinet body due to its superior strength, corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness.

Additionally, the customer required 8mm diameter round bars made from 304L grade stainless steel for the internal locking mechanisms and hinges of the cabinets. Ensuring precise dimensions and durability was critical for both aesthetic and functional purposes, especially as the cabinets would be subjected to both environmental wear and constant usage.

Offshore Stainless & Alloys leveraged its significant inventory of 1.4003 stainless steel sheets to meet the customer’s demand promptly. As the world's largest stockholder of this material, the company was uniquely positioned to offer flexibility in order size and meet the tight deadlines associated with large infrastructure projects like motorway installations.

To maximise efficiency and reduce waste, the 1.4003 stainless steel sheets were processed on Offshore Stainless & Alloys in-house cut-to-length production line. By cutting the sheets to the precise dimensions required for the steel cabinets, they helped the customer avoid unnecessary excess material, streamlining their manufacturing process and reducing production costs.

Offshore Stainless & Alloys also accessed the group’s inventory of stainless steel round bars and offered the customer a solution for their 304L round bar requirement. Using the group’s CNC bar cutting machinery, Offshore Stainless & Alloys provided precision-cut 8mm round bars at a competitive price, ensuring that the customer received the highest quality material in the exact specifications they needed.
